Wang Jianhua, a molecular biologist and microbiologist, graduated in 1981 from Huazhong Agricultural College, Jingzhou, China, got MSc degree in Plant Biochemistry (1988) from Huazhong Agricultural University, Wuhan, China and PhD in Food Microbiology (1996) from the Huazhong Agricultural University, WuHan, China. He finished his Postdoc research in Yeast identification in 2001 from Technical University of Lisboa, Instituto Superior de Agronomia, Portugal.

Work experience

As director of Gene Engineering Laboratory, Feed Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Wang Jianhua is chief scientist of ‘Antimicrobial Peptides and Antibiotics Substitutes’ in Scientific Innovation Project of CAAS (2013-), the Key Projects of Alternatives to Antibiotic for Animal (Grant No. CAASZDRW202111) and Feed (Grant No. CAAS-ZDXT2018008) Usages of the Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Program (ASTIP). He is also the vice director of Key Laboratory of Feed Biotechnology, Ministry of Agriculture, China, since 2009.

He was chair of 9th and 15th International Lactoferrin Conference (2009, 2021, Beijing) and member of the Scientific Committee of the 9-14th International Lactoferrin Conference, member of International Scientific Advisory Committee of the 2nd International Conference on Antimicrobial Research (2012, Lisbon), State Council Expert for Special Allowance of China in 2010, Outstanding Expert of the Ministry of Agriculture of China in 2005, National Talent of the Ministry of Human Resource in New Centry of China in 2006, Member of Scientific Panel of the State Key Laboratory of Direct-fed Microbials since 2009, the National Committee of Administrative Evaluation & Permit of New Feed since 2002, Feed Additive and Premix since 2007 and Feed Standardization since 2009.
